Momentous Insurance Launches Entertainment Blog hosted by Film Independent

Winnie Wong from the Momentous Film & Television team to lend professional advice in weekly blog: “Lights, Camera, Insurance”

Van Nuys, CA, March 4, 2009 – Winnie Wong, Vice President of Momentous Insurance Brokerage and an entertainment insurance expert, has launched a weekly blog on Film Independent (FIND), an organization dedicated to supporting and informing independent filmmakers in all aspects of the industry.

Her first blog entitled “Why Do I Need Production Insurance?” answers the question every filmmaker asks their broker. “I attempt to employ an illustrative style that allows the layperson to clearly visualize potential claims scenarios,” says Wong. “This makes it easier for anyone who isn’t fluent in the language of insurance to understand the intricacies of production coverage.”

In this first installment, she explains the importance of being properly insured and discusses the many ways in which production insurance allows for peace of mind throughout the filming process. You can access this blog at www.filmindependent.org by selecting “Film Independent Blog” from the “News” drop-down menu.

Updated every Thursday, Wong will answer questions submitted by readers, and will delve into all aspects of production insurance – from pre-production to principal photography to delivery. In her next blog, she will cover the safety procedures a film production should implement to avoid and/or mitigate illness and injury.

Wong has been devoted to helping independent filmmakers for the past 22 years. She specializes in features, television, reality, documentary and commercial films. In addition, she has taught entertainment insurance seminars for UCLA Extension, International Documentary Association (IDA) and Film Independent (FIND), she has authored articles for various film publications, and has been a featured panelist for American Film Market (AFM) and Slamdance. Wong’s long-standing relationship with FIND as an entertainment insurance educator, combined with her advocacy of technology, makes her blog a natural extension of her commitment to the film world.
