Van Nuys, CA, (May 28, 2010) – Arlene Binder, Senior Vice President of Momentous Insurance Brokerage, has been nominated as a Woman Making a Difference in the Executive of The Year category. This award, honoring L.A.’s most successful women business leaders, is now in its 19th year. This is a reader-nominated special feature from the Los Angeles Business Journal recognizing women making a difference in the Los Angeles community. This award traditionally garners over 200 nominations each year and includes categories such as Executive, Owner/CEO, Philanthropist, Rising Star, and Volunteer.
The Executive of the Year award is given to a key member of the executive team who far exceeds the expectations of her organization and is considered a leader among her peers.

Arlene has dedicated her entire 30-year career to helping others. As an expert medical insurance broker, Arlene interacts with clients on a very personal level – counseling them on tough choices and consoling them in times of hardship and loss. This closeness instills a fierce sense of loyalty to her clients, and as a result, she’s completely dedicated to advocating for her clients’ best interests in the marketplace.
Arlene has built relationships at the senior-most levels with the leading insurance companies in the country. Because of her experience and credibility in the marketplace, she is able to call upon those relationships to better negotiate on behalf of her clients. She also serves on the Anthem Blue Cross Advisory Board which provides her with a broad perspective of the marketplace and a seat at the table when it comes to recommending changes in plan design, rates, service, structure, marketing and underwriting.
In an industry largely dominated by men, she was one of the first females to break into the executive level at a National insurance brokerage in the mid-1980s. Arlene is a pioneer in her field who has built a Life, Health & Disability department from the ground-up at three separate firms, including her current firm, Momentous Insurance Brokerage.
At Momentous, Arlene is an inspirational leader and mentor to peers and up-and-coming brokers. She is always willing to listen and share advice to help everyone reach their professional development goals. Arlene is also a driving force in developing new business for the continued growth of the firm.
Arlene is a mother of 2 and grandmother of 5. Her passion to help others and her energetic spirit keeps her motivated to make a difference in the lives of her clients and colleagues.
