I already have coverage through my credit card. Why is this better?

While there are travel assistance benefits available through travel insurance policies and platinum memberships such as American Express, these have cost limitations and restrictions as well which both corporate and retail consumers should be aware of.

• Air medical transports/evacuations have to be ruled “medically necessary” by the assistance or insurance provider before they are provided.
• If ruled medically necessary, the medical transport/evacuation most often is only provided to the closest most appropriate facility to the member’s or insured’s location as determined by the assistance or insurance provider. The patient is not able to decide where he/she would like to be taken.

What are the advantages of MedJet Assist Membership?

Medjet Assist will arrange domestic and international medical evacuation transport services to the member’s hospital of choice. This allows the member to choose the location of where their medical care will be delivered and to have the option of selecting a provider that is “in-network” for their existing health insurance coverage.

Medjet Assist only requires that the member be traveling more than 150 miles from home and is being medically evacuated back to an inpatient setting. There are no medical necessity restrictions.

MedjetAssist is a pre-paid annual membership with no monetary limit to the benefits provided. The membership covers all transport costs from bedside to bedside. Without Medjet Assist protection, domestic air medical evacuations average $20,000 while international transports can exceed $100,000.

There are no health questions for enrollment up to age 75. As this is not an insurance policy, there are no deductibles, co-payments or claim forms.

A Diamond membership program is available for those between the ages of 75-85.

There are no limitations on the number of trips taken per year by the member. Memberships are available to U.S., Canada, and Mexico residents only. Travel outside the member’s home country for more than 90 consecutive days will require an upgraded program (expatriate).
